This week at a glance
Monday– Pre-test History of Europe (our new unit)
Tuesday– We will review for our Benchmark (please bring devices)
Wednesday- Benchmark #1 covers everything learned thus far this year. This assessment is for diagnostic purposes… (Please bring devices to use the web version of iRespond).
Thursday & Friday- We will do an error analysis on our Benchmark. We will then work on tiered tasks based on students’ performance.

Today we celebrated Constitution Day by creating a Constitution Day poster. Students may enter their poster into a poster contest. If you are interested in participating, please click the link below.
Please remember we will have a unit test Wednesday. Please make sure you are studying. All students received a study guide Monday. The study guide is due Wednesday. Completing the study guide is optional, however, I strongly encourage each of you to complete it. Completed study guides will receive 5 bonus points on Wednesday’s test. Additionally, I will be holding a test review session in the morning promptly at 8:15. I will meet students at the front of the school at 8:10. Late students will not be permitted.
Today we leaned about literacy rate and standard of living. If you were absent complete the Literacy Rate Cloze Notes by using this ppt September 14, 2015. Periods 2 and 4 you will also need to complete the country report card task (which is contained in the PowerPoint.
Please remember we will have unit test Wednesday. Please see previous posts to help prepare. I will conduct a test review session Wednesday morning at 8:15!

We will take our comprehensive Geography of Europe test Wednesday, September 16th. The test will cover the following standards:
SS6G8 The student will locate selected features of Europe. a. Locate on a world and regional political- physical map: the Danube River, Rhine River, English Channel, Mediterranean Sea, European Plain, the Alps, Pyrenees, Ural Mountains, Iberian Peninsula, and Scandinavian Peninsula. b. Locate on a world and regional political-physical map the countries of Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, and United Kingdom.
SS6G9 The student will discuss environmental issues in Europe. a. Explain the major concerns of Europeans regarding the issues such as acid rain in Germany, air pollution in the United Kingdom, and the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl, Ukraine.
SS6G10 The student will explain the impact of location, climate, natural resources, and population distribution on Europe. a. Compare how the location, climate, and natural resources of the United Kingdom and Russia affect where people live and how they trade. b. Compare how the location, climate, and natural resources of Germany and Italy affect where people live and how they trade.
SS6G11 The student will describe the cultural characteristics of Europe. a. Explain the diversity of European languages as seen in a comparison of German, English, Russian, French, and Italian. b. Describe the major religions in Europe; include Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. c. Explain how the literacy rate affects the standard of living in Europe..
